Tamar Braxton Dishes On Why She And Vince Waited To Announce Their Pregnancy

Although Tamar Braxton and Vince Herbert allowed the world to view their back-and-forth over the decision to have a baby (which included their interviewing perspective surrogates) on Braxton Family Values, the couple was a little more secretive when they found out they really were expecting a baby. But according to the “Love and War” singer, she and Vince had good reason to keep their unborn bundle of joy on the hush-hush, at least for as long as they did. She recently told PEOPLE:
“Vince and I [were] told we were going to have fertility problems — it was a lot of information — so we had to get comfortable with the fact that it happened on its own. We decided [not to announce the pregnancy] until we were both really okay with it — that’s why we waited.”
Tamar also shared her reaction to the news that she was carrying her and Vince’s first child, saying, “I just burst out laughing. It’s like, ‘What you talkin’ about, boo?’”
Not surprisingly, the mom-to-be is getting plenty of advice from her four older sisters, all of whom have children of their own. She said:
“My sisters are making me feel more maternal because they’re crazy. They’re giving me advice on how to be a mother and be pregnant. They always have a comment about my shoes, what am I wearing, what am I eating, you need to put your feet up and I’m just like, ‘I’m fine!’ They’re too much.”
Even though the duo is keeping the sex of their baby a secret, Tamar’s good friend, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, accidentally let it slip during a recent interview that it’s a boy. The couple has yet to confirm or deny. Hopefully, a baby will tame some of Tamar’s diva-like ways.
